Hi Sweet Girl!
Wow, its been a while since Mommy blogged. You are 1 years old and more fun than ever. Daddy and I had a 1st birthday party for you here in Louisville on your actual birthday with 15 of our friends from church. You had a blast opening presents and eating the WHOLE cupcake. You were in a sugar coma. It was hilarious! Your little arm hung over the side of your highchair and your head was just hanging with your eyes opening and closing every slowly hehe! You slept really well that night :) 2 weeks later we all left for 2.5 weeks of vacation in Florida. (Daddy only got to stay for a long weekend) You did amazing, again, on the airplane. Nana and Granddaddy Pops spoiled you ROTTEN! We had another (bigger) party for you in Florida with all our friends and family in Florida. They showered you with so many wonderful gifts - you loved all the attention and smiled SO big while we all sang "Happy Birthday" to you. :)
What you do now -
You love to share your food with anyone around you - sharing is caring :)
You can climb to the top of the stairs in our townhouse, all by yourself
You push-walk ALL the time - we are just waiting for you to start walking on your own.
You are a very cautious baby - unless you know you can do something 100% and do it very well you don't attempt it
You still love to eat - your favorites right now are gerber cookies, green grapes, and broccoli
You can say - mommy, daddy, nana, yes, light, and eyes
You can point to my eyes, noses, ears, and hair
You give kisses freely on the lips :)
You love fans and always point to them
You LOVE to watch Jeopardy and LeapFrog (Violet, Eli, Penny, Dash, and Scout)
When we tell you to cover your eyes in the morning because its going to be bright (turning on the lights) you cover your eyes with both hands - oh love I love you!
You are my joy!! XOXO

10.5 Months
Cate,
Today is July 1st. You are 10.5 months old and so much fun! I'm enjoying being a stay at home mommy more and more everyday.
You had fish for the first time tonight and loved it.
You also love to eat Gerber granola bars and everything mommy is eating. You spit your paci out and squeal until I give you my food - ha!
You are pulling up on EVERYTHING and crawling very fast.
You pull everything off the shelves in the kitchen and sit under my feet while I'm cooking. Sometimes you pull on my pants until I pick you up...you like to see what I'm doing :)
You still love your bottle and are starting to feed yourself - yippee!!!!
You are waving hi and bye-bye. You know exactly what "going bye-bye" means and always crawl to the sliding glass door and wait for me :)
You love your Daddy so much. He makes you laugh really hard. He likes to live on the edge with you - throwing you in the air, flipping you around....basically he likes to give mommy heart attacks :)
Your favorite show is Jeopardy - don't ask me why but you will sit completely still and watch the whole show. You don't sit that still for anything else.
The bank and carwash make you cry. You don't like the loud sound when the money goes through the tunnel - it breaks my heart.
However, you really are the best baby! You go to strangers and smile at everyone. You are always SO good in the car and in the nursery at church.
You are the sweetest, most beautiful, curious, independent, lil stinker!
XOXO!!

June - 10 Months
Hi Sweet Girl,
You are so fun! I love our days together. You are crawling everywhere! (and quickly too!) You are keeping me on my toes :) You love to clap and you have started mimicing Daddy and I. You always wave at dogs and sometimes to people too. You still love car rides and people. Daddy and I took you to the pool, in our neighborhood, for the first time tonight. We had a blast! Daddy and I got Chick-Fil-A too. We went to the splash park this week - you love summer!
Schedule-
6:30 -Wake up. Daddy gives you a 6oz bottle
8am- You wake Mommy up. You eat part of a banana (real one) and pears with oatmeal or apples with oatmeal.
10am-Nap (til 11)
12- 4oz bottle, carrots (real ones) and fruit (pureed)
2:30-snack (whatever Mommy is eating or a muffin or yogurt bites or puffs - 8-10 pieces)
2:30-3pm-Nap (til 4:30)
5pm-4oz bottle, pureed veggie and whatever Daddy and I are having for dinner (just a few bites)
7pm-6oz bottle
7:30-8pm-Bedtime
You ate a waffle on Sunday. It was Mommy's but somehow it turned into yours :) Since it was supposed to be Mommy's it had butter and syrup on it. Hands down your favorite food -ha! You didn't take an afternoon nap - the sugar must have shocked your system :)
We are working on taking a sippy cup and/or straw. You will not drink water or juice :( Hopefully, you will soon. Love you, sweet girl!!

Blessed...April 21-24
Sunday, April 21- Nick applied for a new job at UPS. We are praying for the Lord's best for our family. Whether it is this job (Mon-Fri, 8:30-4:30, normal schedule) or another one. We just want to be in the Lord's will.... because there is no better place to be.
Monday, April 22- We had The Papendorfs and Veitz over for dessert and game night. We haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Blessed with friends.
Tuesday, April 23- Cate and I went to Kosair's for her final neurologist appointment. She is doing awesome! We are in the clear!! Praise the Lord!! Who knew back surgery would be so easy?! Blessed!! I also organized a girls night. We went to Salsarita's and Clothes Mentor. So fun and much needed girl time.
Wednesday, April 24- I'm not sure why Cate was fussy all. day. long. but as I was venting to Mom about Cates' fussy day and it raining outside she said "Go to the mall, purchase an IPad and I'll pay for it" Umm...what?! My parents really are the best! Blessed! Also, Nick skipped class tonight to spend time with me and his fussy girl :) I made Eggplant Parm for the first time with pasta and kale (love Kale!) then we went to Fresh Market as a family and McDonalds for ice cream. Blessed...

"Mom!"
Tonight, while I was watching live coverage of the Boston, Mass bomber take down, Cate, woke up and started crying HARD. I ran upstairs and busted in her room saying "It's okay, It's okay" and she looked up at me and said "Mom!" Ooooh my goodness!! Melt my heart!! Love her!!!

Great day!
Hi Pumpkin Girl -
We had a great day today! This morning when Daddy brought you into our bedroom to wake me up, you sat inbetween us and "talked" up a storm. You said "Dad, vnjnjbnijkbgkjbg then belly laughed. It was the CUTEST thing you have ever done. :) I think you were trying to tell him something funny :) We met some friends at Jimmy John's for lunch (They were having customer appreciation day. Subs were only $1) Then we went to a brand new florist shop right down the street and got to pick out ANY flower arrangement we wanted for FREE! (Yippee!) I finally decided on an arrangement and you LOVE looking at it :) You took a good nap then we went to the Oxmoor Mall. I returned some capris to The Limited and got a new phone at the Apple Store. (My on/off button stopped working so The Apple Store replaced it for free. Of course, everyone stopped me and told me how cute and sweet you are...we are blessed!) Then we went to Subway and I got a salad. (Daddy had to go to class early tonight :( We missed him!) When we got home we practiced crawling and walking (I put your feet on my feet and we walk around) You LOVE it - you smile SO big and do your "coughing" thing. And to top off our great day when I went to check on you after you fell asleep you were sleeping on your TUMMY for the first time ever!! You hate being on your tummy but you finally decided to sleep on it tonight :) So cute!! I love you sweet girl!! XOXO!
-Mommy
PS- The "coughing" thing I am talking about means when you get really excited you stick out your tongue and cough over and over and over. Silly girl! It just means you are excited :)

- She has decided she doesn't like bananas anymore and the vacuum makes her cry :)
- She has TWO teeth popping through.
- She had her first fever. 101.4 (We are SO thankful for Uncle Seth who helped mommy even when he was working) Mommy thinks Cate got exhausted from missing her morning nap two days in a row (chick-fil-a play date and the zoo)
- We can't go anywhere without 100 people stopping us and telling us how beautiful our lil peanut is :)

Blessings...
Monday, Feb. 25th - Today is my sweet sister-in-law's 30th birthday. It has been a true blessing to watch the Lord work in her heart over the past several years. Happy birthday, Shannon! We love you!
Tuesday, Feb. 26th - This morning when I walked into Catie Bugs room, her little legs started moving like crazy. She was beyond excited to see me. She smiled really big as I began to tell her "Good Morning!" I picked her up and she immediately put both hands on my face, opened her mouth and went in for a big kiss. MELT MY HEART!! (I've been trying to teach her "kiss" and "hug")
Wednesday, Feb. 27th - Tonight, 2 hours after Cate went to bed, I heard her crying. I gave her a minute to find her paci but instead she continued to cry. This is not normal, so I ran upstairs to see what was wrong. I saw that she didn't have her paci so I put it in her mouth, rubbed her head for a minute and walked out of the room. But right as I shut the door she began to cry again. I opened the door, picked her up and rocked her in my arms. I sang "Momma loves you" and she fell right asleep. (I guess she needed some extra Momma snuggles tonight) If you know Cate, you know, she is the most independent lil girl. Nick and I never hold her like a baby anymore, let alone rock her because Miss Independent does not have time for her head to be down - even in a dark room she must be looking at the world, discovering new things. Curious little bug! But not tonight, tonight I was able to rock her until my back couldn't hold her anymore. I stole many kisses and enjoyed every second! I love you, my sweet Sunshine!

Thankful...
I decided I needed to write down one thing a day that I am thankful for. A blessing. I want to be able to look back and see all that the Lord has done in our lives.
Monday, Feb 18th - A friend handed me a note before working out and said "I don't know who this is from but someone gave this to my husband for you and Nick" Later that night Nick and I opened the envelope...someone wrote us a note saying God had given them an unexpected blessing and also placed it on their hearts to share some of it with us....$120! Wow!
Tuesday, Feb 19th - George and Kerstin came to visit! They watched Cate so Nick and I could go on a date. They also brought us our favorite treats and diapers.
Wednesday, Feb 20th - We went to lunch with George and Kerstin - love family time.
Thursday, Feb 21st- Went to Thursday morning Bible Study about prayer - good fellowship, prayer and time in the word.
Friday, Feburary 22nd - I spoke with a nurse at Kosairs about Cate's upcoming surgery and he said "You will be shocked how quickly Cate will bounce back, even by the time you go home" Great news for my mommy heart!
Saturday, Feb 23rd - I got the stomach bug but Nick gave up many hours of sleep to take care of Cate so I could sleep. Then when he got home from valet he could not have been more loving in taking care of me.
Sunday, Feb 24th - I was able to eat today - yay!

Cate Summary: 6 months
Dear Cate,
Yesterday, Daddy and I took you in for your 6 month check-up. I cannot even begin to explain what a blessing East Louisville Pediatrics is to our family. All the doctors, nurses, and staff are incredible. You are a 20.01 pound sake of potatoes, as the nurse called you. (96-98%). 25 1/4 inches in height. (25%) and you have a 17 3/8 inch head (80%) The doctor and nurse squeezed and played with your "hammies" and went on and on about how beautiful you are. At this point you have eaten oatmeal, pears, carrots, and peaches. You love fruit! I can't get it in your mouth quick enough :) You tolerate carrots. Sometimes you like them and sometimes you don't. Oatmeal on the other hand, well, you don't like the texture at all. You lean as far back as you can in the bumbo and seal your lips so shut that I cannot even tell you have lips anymore. ha! I have to "fly" or "train" the oatmeal into your mouth. You smile at the funny sounds I make and I slip the spoon right in. :) You are the sunshine of my life!! Oh how I love you! Two days before your 6 month birthday you started putting the paci into your mouth all by yourself at night. One part of me is SO proud of you but the other part of me is so sad you don't need me at night anymore. I love getting a full nights sleep but I also miss seeing you at night.
Schedule -
7am - 7 oz of formula (Enamil Infant -yellow) (Daddy does this feeding so Mommy can sleep until 9:30-10am. You LOVE your Daddy! Sometimes I wake up to help Daddy but you normally don't notice I'm around - all eyes are on your Daddy. He loves to make you laugh and you think he is hilarious)
Nap - 8- 9:30-10am
10am- Oatmeal, a solid and 7 oz of formula. (You normally don't eat everything)
Nap- 11:30-12:15 (this nap keeps getting shorter and shorter)
1pm- 7oz of formula
Nap 2-4pm
4pm- Solid and 7oz of formula
No Nap!
7pm- 9oz of formula (sometimes you don't take all of it)
Bed @ 7:30pm (We say prayers with you, kiss your forehead, and walk out of the room. You go right to sleep everytime)
You love-
Bath time, grabbing your toes, fans, light, fruit, car rides, walks, getting your ears cleaned out, your exersaucer, and your "friends"
You are not a snuggler, at all. You are very curious about the world around you and don't have time to put your head down for one minute. I started teaching you how to drink from a sippy cup and straw today. You did really well with the sippy cup but you weren't too sure about the straw. Oh well, we will try again tomorrow.
My heart forever,
Mommy
